Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers (1988)

Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers Quote: “You’re talking about him as if he were a human being. That part of him died years ago.” – Dr. Loomis

The 1978 “Halloween” was a hit with the Shat The Movies crew, so we were overjoyed when loyal listener Tom C. in Texas chose its sequel “Halloween 4” as this year’s Spooktacular special.

“The Return of Michael Myers” has everything we loved about the original, minus the spectacular boobs, plus some great ’80s special effects. Michael is deadlier. The town is more violent, and Dr. Loomis is a lot more Dr. Loomisy.

Perhaps the scariest part is a look back at parenting in the ’80s. Why did our parents let us eat what we ate? Why did they leave us alone when we needed them most? Why did they let us wander around town in the dark on Halloween night, visiting strangers’ homes and mingling with adults wearing disguises? Why didn’t they make us wear pants?

Really, it’s a miracle any of us lived to see 2020. So let’s celebrate life by cheering for deaths. That’s the true spirit of the season.

Plot Summary: “Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers” The apparently comatose Michael Myers (George P. Wilbur) is being transferred from one hospital to another, but he wakes up when the ambulance crew talk about his surviving niece, Jamie (Danielle Harris). After slaughtering his attendants, Myers sets out to find his one living relative who is, fortunately, being cared for by a kind and resourceful foster sister named Rachel (Ellie Cornell). Meanwhile, the ever-cautious Dr. Loomis (Donald Pleasence) remains on the killer’s path.
