All hands on deck Set in the future, the story follows a young soldier named Johnny Rico and his exploits in the Mobile Infantry. Paul Verhoeven’s “Starship Troopers” mixes fun, smarts, action, sex and satire into a star-studded sci-fi package.

Plot Summary: “Starship Troopers In the distant future, the Earth is at war with a race of giant alien insects. Little is known about the Bugs except that they are intent on the eradication of all human life. They are a ruthless enemy with only one mission: Survival of their species no matter what the cost…

Love the reviews, as a forward.

But OH MY GOD! how did Big D never read the book. It’s actually on the recommended reading list for Marine Corps NCO’s. The BOOK, NOT The movie.

I enjoyed the movie, and it was meant as “satire” but really nothing more than anti-US war propaganda, while portraying service as propaganda. I knew that and still enjoyed the movie because I saw it as farce, that and Casper Van Dean.
